I would like to begin by sharing with you my journey in discovering naturopathic medicine. It began when my mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. This was a devastating diagnosis to receive and the thought of losing her was extremely difficult. She was referred to a naturopathic doctor to counteract the side effects of the chemotherapy and to support her in general throughout this process. Naturopathic medicine helped her immensely and made it so that she was able to live her life as fully as possible and much more comfortably, experiencing fewer side effects. My mom is the strongest person that I know and I’m happy to say that today, she is an ovarian cancer survivor and continues to be one of my best friends, for which I am so incredibly thankful. This experience inspired me to become a naturopathic doctor.
While attending Bastyr University, I had the awe-inspiring experience of witnessing my niece’s birth. My sister had a beautiful, natural childbirth, which inspired me to become a midwife to support and guide women and their families throughout this very special time in their lives. I feel so blessed to have been a part of this experience with not only my sister, but since then, many other women and their partners as it is an extremely magical time – one that will forever be remembered.
I received my doctorate in naturopathic medicine and my license in naturopathic midwifery from Bastyr University. After graduating, I founded Origins Natural Health and Midwifery, a family practice with an emphasis on women’s health, pediatrics primary care, and midwifery in Snohomish, WA.
My passion is providing families with comprehensive primary care, offering all treatment options available from natural to conventional. I strive to help parents navigate what is appropriate for their situation and family. My goal is to fully inform you, so that you no longer feel overwhelmed. Preconception care is of particular interest to me because I believe that optimal health begins early on with a strong foundation. Being a naturopathic physician and a midwife, I have the unique ability to care for women throughout all stages of their lives including preconception, pregnancy, and childbirth. I can then continue to provide pediatric and well woman care. If you are looking for a doctor and a midwife who will guide you through all stages of your life, who will motivate and empower you, you have come to the right place. My mission and commitment is to build a trusting relationship that will enrich your experience as well as provide the education and support you need to achieve optimal health for your family, from the beginning. Educating people about their health, inspiring, and empowering them is truly uplifting to me. Seeing my patients feel healthier and happier brings me great joy. Witnessing women bring new life into the world and undergo this transformative and empowering experience is indescribable.
On a personal note, I live in Everett with my husband and our two boys. My experiences have reinforced my choice to help women and their families have a positive birth experience. In my spare time, I love to spend time with my family, go on play-dates with friends, and go on hikes.
